July Club Night & Presentations

The evening happily started with the presentation of certificates by Region 3 Group Coordinator John Lickley. Firstly to John Kewley who achieved top scores on his Advanced Test and has been entered in F1RST.  Becky Champion, Sting Barrett and Andy Spencer were then presented with their Observer Training certificates 

Jim Sampson took a masterclass on overtaking and in the second half demonstrated his versatility by acting as an injured biker whilst guest speakers Marcus McCormick and ex paramedic biker and TV star, Barry Rudge gave us a lively session on Incident Scene Management.  A couple of interesting facts amongst the many, most biking accidents occur on or near bends and  we carry around a pint of blood for each stone in weight. 

Chairman Keith drew attention to the fact that this was Simon Daffern's last evening as Social Night Organiser and paid tribute to all his hard work.  Simon had the difficult task of getting the  Social Nights off the ground and then the perennial problem of finding a supply of diverse and interesting speakers for our enjoyment. It's one of those jobs that appears fairly straightforward but demands a lot of input behind the scenes especially when things go wrong . Just take a look at the list of speakers Simon has harassed, cajoled and threatened over the past few years and you'll get a idea of how fortunate we've been. So, our sincere thanks to Simon and our best wishes to Gary Green and Becky Champion who gamely take over Simon's role.
