Cornering with Marcus

Unhappily Neil Colledge was called away at the last moment and was unable to start his series of roadcraft talks at the Club Night on Sept 19th, but Marcus McCormack kindly stepped in at short notice, filling the breach with a polished performance. The art of cornering (including examples of how not to corner) was covered in a lively manner and all present added to their knowledge. Soaking up the Blue Book is all very well but a presentation by an expert is more dynamic and certainly more entertaining; it is beyond dispute that Marcus is an expert. What an excellent addition to the CWAM programme the roadcraft presentations are, don't miss the next one on Nov 19th.

The only disappointment of the evening was the muted response to the questions Marcus posed. With the years of accumulated biking knowledge in the hall, I would have expected a forest of hands to have shot up in the air accompanied by cries of "Please Sir, me Sir", but not a bit of it. With the odd exception, the audience was more reminiscent of the wayward clique the back of the class sitting on their hands and trying to make their heads disappear into their shoulders in the expectation that they would become invisible. CWAM members 'could do better'.
