Thank you to Coventry Run volunteers |

It seems that September 7th is jinxed and CWAM members are doomed to spend it twiddling their thumbs at home. Not only was the proposed CWAM Treasure Hunt/Navigation Rally shelved but the Coventry Festival of Motoring which was expected to involve more than 500 cars from all over the UK has been cancelled due to appalling weather conditions. Ian Chapman, who had not only attempted to get the Treasure Hunt off the ground, but also persuaded no less than 27 CWAM members to volunteer their help at the Coventry Run, wishes to offer a his personal thanks to each of them for offering their services. It is unfortunate that the opportunity to showcase CWAM at a major motoring event in our home city has been lost. Some members had invested a considerable amount of their time in planning and logistical efforts which would have greatly contributed to the successful running of the event. Dave Homan, to name but one, spent 3 hours on Thursday evening putting up his quota of road signs ready for Sunday. Malcolm Oliver, chairman of the Coventry Festival of Motoring organising committee said: "We are really sorry that we've had to make this difficult decision. We really wanted to give all entrants and spectators a good show and a quality event however with the current and forecasted weather sadly this will not be possible." |
