The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is the
UKs leading road safety charity, a totally
independent organisation dedicated to raising
driving and riding standards, engaging with the road-using public and influencing road safety
policy. The best known facets of IAM are the Advanced
Driving and Riding Tests for motorists and motorcyclists respectively but these
are only a small part of the Institute's work.
IAM are not "owned" or financially dependent on any commercial
organisations who might have a vested interest in a narrow aspect of road
safety. Financial support comes from the annual subscriptions of the 112,000
plus membership who provide a valuable source of practical knowledge and
experience for the Institute.
