How to Join and What it Costs.

Skill for Life Second Year Costs Friend's Membership Your Responsibilities

Whether you are new to biking, have years of experience or are a born again biker, you can be sure of a warm welcome at CWAM. The best way to join is to contact the Membership Secretary then come down to the Jaguar Sports & Social Club on a Sunday morning to meet us and have a Free Assessment Ride. (We meet on the 2nd & 4th Sundays in the month except for Bank Holiday Weekends & Christmas). Unless you have already passed the IAM Advanced Motorcycle Test, you will enrol as an Associate Member. If Sunday's are difficult for you, just tell us when you make contact and alternative times will be arranged to suit your requirements.

Skill for Life

Following the Assessment Ride, if you think CWAM is for you, the best way forward is to purchase a "Skill for Life" package or better still, suggest it as a birthday or Christmas present. Costing only £139, it provides everything you need to pass your Advanced Motorcycling Test. If you prefer you can make two installments, the first of £75 (on enrollment) and the second of £69 prior to the test.

The IAM "Skill for Life" Package includes
  • CWAM associate membership for one year including access to group events.

  • IAM Associate membership ( upgraded upon passing the Advanced Test).

  • The excellent IAM book "How To Be A Better Rider ".

  • Issues of "Advanced Driving" the IAMs tri-annual Members magazine.

  • An initial assessment (carried out by CWAM).

  • All Advanced Test preparation work (undertaken by CWAM).

  • The IAM Advanced Motorcycling Test fee.

How to be a better rider

As the Observers give their time and share their skills freely, a voluntary contribution may be made towards their expenses for each Observed Ride (max £5).

Full terms & conditions are detailed in the "Skill for Life" enrolment form.

Costs after the first year

After the first year Annual Associate Membership costs £30 (or £28 by direct debit or online) for IAM plus £29 for CWAM membership.

When you have passed your test, your CWAM membership is reduced to only £12 a year. (By passing your test in the first year, you will save £17).

Friend's Membership

CWAM is also able to offer a Friend's Membership for non-riders at the cost of £5. Please contact the Membership Secretary for more details.
