Pitsford, Pitsford and   er   Pitsford again!

Paul Lewis led ten jolly bikers out of the Long Itch Diner on Wednesday evening and headed for the gently undulating countryside of Northants in the general direction of Pitsford Reservoir. One of our number (I won’t embarrass her my revealing that it was Michelle), mentioned that she hoped to be back in time to see ‘The Apprentice’,  although wisely, she didn’t actually specify which episode she was hoping to be back for.

I’m not sure whether we reached our programmed destination because we didn’t actually get off our bikes although we did see some water – quite a lot of it, several times. The weather in the area of Pitsford wasn’t great, not rain or drizzle or mist, more of a murky dampness which was a bit annoying because we spent a significant amount of time extensively exploring the local byways. But there is always an upside in life and in this instance, it was practising U turns – note the plural.

Margaret commented that we’d been through some pretty villages and indeed we had, some of them twice and others three times. We were extricated from the labyrinthine one way system in Moulton only as darkness fell and Paul was able to display his talent as an astronavigator, guiding us safely home by frequent reference to the position of the Pole Star. Who needs sat nav!

But who’s complaining, I clocked around 76 miles, so on a ride advertised as 60 miles, that’s an extra 25% which although not quite a two for one, has got to be good value for money. Anyway, it must have been an enjoyable ride out for all concerned (except possibly Michelle who will have to watch the repeat) because once everyone had been served, there were smiling faces all round at the Bell & Buck.
