There were a record
18 Advanced Test passes during 2009. The quality and quantity of those
taking it being a testament to the CWAM observers who mentor the
associates so proficiently.
In addition to all
the unscheduled midweek training that goes on there were 21 Sunday
morning Check Rides.
We enjoyed 10 full
day ride outs and 11 half day and evening ride outs.
We had 29 new
members.
Paul Lewis and his
team ran new Observer Training programmes and workshops.
Simon Daffern managed
to find entertaining and informative speakers for the 6 Club Nights.
Personally, I thought bikers Michael Niblett and Mick Extance stood out
but that doesn’t detract from the rest.
Jim Samson became our
reliable Roadcraft guru who always gave value for money, or would have
done if
we'd paid him.
Ian Edgar started the
Sunday Social Rides for those who have passed their test and are at a
loose end on Sunday mornings.
Ian Christopher
organised three Slow Riding Days where the only thing to go fast is the
time (topical Christmas cracker joke).
The Skittles Night in
October although somewhat ignominious for the webmaster was great fun
and proved yet again that we really are good guys and a friendly bunch.
CWAM manned IAM
stands at Atherstone Carnival, Heart of England Bike Show at Gaydon and
the NEC Bike Show to name but three; there were others but I can’t
remember.
Gary Green set up a
First Aid training day which although sadly postponed at the last moment
would have been another first for the group. -
The thought was there! – Look out for new date/s in 2010.
We had the
opportunity to join the 3 Rider Skills Day at Mallory Park – Check out
the News page for Steve Pearce’s article on 2010 events.
Sadly, the final
issue of the CWAM Newsletter was produced during 2009 it being judged
that e mail and the website were more immediate and cheaper mediums of
communication. This is a good moment to remember the many hours Dylan
& Jo put in over the years editing & compiling, not forgetting
Simon’s input printing & distributing. Occasionally there is a
debt where a simple thank you hardly suffices and this is one such.
www.cwam.org.uk
has grown in popularity during the year with around 600 hits a
month and distinct peaks in the few days following the issue of the new monthly news mail. The most popular pages are the Events Diary, News and
How to Join.
And
finally there's the 12
Committee Meetings chaired by Tony Williamson which we tend to forget,
possibly because we don’t hear much about them but they are the petrol fuelling the CWAM engine that drives the group forward.
