Thanks to the ten members and associates who joined me on the last long ride-out of 2009. We all got to Abergavenny eventually, following two visits to Chipping Campden (thanks to Becky for showing me the right road), a rather prolonged breakfast stop at Tewkesbury (it’s good to see new members enthusiastically keeping up their cholesterol levels) and several uncoordinated petrol stops.

Tom Knight has discovered that BMW suspension isn’t as forgiving as his Suzuki and after extracting his flask in several pieces, removed the GS’s top box and poured two pints of tea onto the car park!

Following on from some great roads between Brecon and Hay on Wye the last few miles to Hereford were a mix of 40’s and 50’s with double whites the whole way! Gilbert must have relaxed too much as when we stopped for a break his only concern was where the loo was. He selected a spot and his modesty was covered by several of the group.

I then made the biggest faux pas of the day and took a wrong turn in Ledbury which saw 11 motorcyclists heading in completely the wrong direction for approx 10 miles. Saint Melvin came to the rescue and led us back to the route, but by the time we got back to Stratford upon Avon we were getting in some night time riding practice.

The group gradually split up as individuals headed home. Apologies to Trevor Smith whose Sunday dinner was in the dog by the time he got home.

See you all at the CWAM Christmas Dinner,

 Ian Chapman
